Jennifer Clayton - Podiatry Qualifications
I graduated in Podiatric Medicine in 1992 after undertaking 3 years full time training. I am also trained and certified in the use of local anaesthesia.
I have many years experience working in both the NHS and private practice. Although all foot conditions are treated at the clinic my special interests are in biomechanics and gait analysis, high risk care (diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis), podopaediatrics (children’s gait problems) and nail surgery under local anaesthetic.
I took a sabbatical from the NHS in 1998 and went to work in Canada treating diabetics from Indian Reserves. As part of my NHS duties I helped to run a diabetic screening and treatment centre. I also had a paediatric caseload. I gave up NHS work when I had my daughter and now concentrate on private practice.
I undertake regular sessions for a Foot Surgeon at Cobham Day Hospital and my duties include lower limb anaesthesia and cannulation prior to surgery along with out patient duties.
I am a keen sportswoman. I run regularly, horse ride and I'm undertaking The British Wheel of Yoga Teacher Training Diploma.
I am committed to my professional development and regularly attend courses and post-graduate training events to keep my knowledge and skills up to date along with bringing new and modern treatments into the practice.
I am a member of The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and registered with the Health Professions Council.
The registration process for podiatrists has recently changed. Due to recent changes in legislation, common professional titles like ‘podiatrist’ are now protected by law. Anyone who uses a protected title must register with the Health Professions Council (HPC). Registration with the HPC now replaces the previous system of state registration.
The phrases and letters you should now look for are:
