As a Registered Podiatrist I deal with the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the lower limb and I am qualified to treat people with arthritis, diabetes and many other high risk conditions.
I undertake biomechanical assessments and gait analysis which may result in a home physiotherapy programme being drawn up to strengthen or stretch muscles and soft tissue and/or an in shoe device (orthotic) being prescribed to help control foot mechanics.
My practice includes podiatry treatment for children, athletes, sports injuries, working in partnership with doctors, physiotherapists, school nurses and other health care professionals.
I am qualified to undertake nail surgery which is performed under local anaesthesia.
A Podiatrist treats people of all ages and plays a particularly important role in helping older people to stay mobile and, therefore, independent.
